The Auction Insights report in Google Ads lets Google Ads marketing advertisers see how their keyword bids compare to competitors in the same auctions. For example, the Auction Insights report shows Google Ads marketing advertisers their impression shares, position above rates, and other performance metrics compared to competitors in the same auction. These insights are valuable for helping advertisers adjust their Google Ads strategies to stay competitive. Additionally, advertisers can link their Google Ads account with Google Looker Studio to include Auction Insights in their reports. This integration makes it easier to automate and visualize competitor insights directly within Looker Studio, helping you better understand how you compare to your competitors.

However, Google Ads has recently removed Aucition Inisghts from Looker Studio. Google Ads users can no longer add Auction Insights fields in new data sources within Looker Studio and existing data sources will lose this access on September 23rd, 2024.

The removal of Auction Insights fields from Looker Studio will require advertisers to adjust their Looker reports and strategy tools, and revert to getting the competitive metrics they want to see in Google Ads through other approaches. Advertisers can export Google Ads Auction Insights data and import the data into Google Sheets and import the data from Google Sheets into Google Looker Studio.
